Hello friends, students and family of the Flying Classroom,

I've been reflecting on the many gifts we've received this past week. To sum up the extraordinary kindness of our hosts in Vietnam, our flight out of Ho Chi Minh City began with an amazing sun shower. Once again, the sky paved the way for Captain Irving and our crew through the clouds. An hour and a half later, we landed in Singapore at night and were welcomed by a cheerful team and a full moon shining over Inspiration III.

Our first day in Singapore started at Textron Aviation, where we presented to a group of eager and energetic kids from Chinese International School. They couldn't wait to meet the educational hero they had come to see. It was an amazing way to begin our time here.

On Friday night, the crew and I explored the restaurants along the Singapore River. We really couldn’t be farther from home and yet, here in the middle of Southeast Asia, there was an Octoberfest celebration going on with Asian bands singing spot-on covers of songs by American artists like Rhianna, Kings of Leon, and Michael Jackson. During “Sweet Child of Mine” by Guns N’ Roses, the guitarist played the guitar solo with his teeth! It was surprisingly entertaining and therapeutic as it eased our ever-homesick minds.

Now as Captain Irving Skypes with classrooms across the U.S. and abroad, Oliver and our newest crew member, Brian, have been exploring the wildlife reserves you voted for while Tom, Shaesta and I plan for our next flight legs despite the world’s unplanned crazy events: volcanic eruptions, protests, security threats, and two typhoons. We knew that this journey would be much more than the educational adventure we had planned. Which makes it that more special and exciting for you who are joining us on the journey!

Enjoy, and continue to dream, live and fly with us on our flying magic bus!!!

Fueling the dream!
